Are You A Woman With Urinary Incontinence Issues? Options To Consider

If you are a woman that is experiencing urinary incontinence issues, you may feel unsure of yourself and maybe even a little embarrassed. While these feelings are entirely understandable, you do not have to go on feeling this way all the time. There are treatment and management options to consider as a woman with urinary incontinence. Learn more about some of these options available to you. Then, you can better handle your urinary incontinence issues and get back to fully enjoying your life.

Try Urinary Incontinence Pads or Underwear

Urinary incontinence products have improved greatly in recent years. While they used to be bulky and cumbersome, they are now more streamlined, comfortable, and discreet. As such, you may want to consider trying urinary incontinence pads or underwear, especially when you are planning to get out and about.

Although the pads have been around for a while, the underwear is relatively new. There are many cuts and styles to choose from including a variety of colors. Basically, urinary incontinence underwear is starting to be on the same level of style and comfort as regular underwear. Explore your options and given a few pairs a try. They may be just the solution you have been looking for, and in the meantime, you can also use pads in your regular underwear.

Consider Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Another option to consider in the management of your urinary incontinence issues is pelvic floor physiotherapy. Pelvic floor physiotherapy focuses on the muscles of the pelvic floor in women. These muscles can become weakened for a variety of reasons including childbirth, menopause, and heavy lifting.

A pelvic floor physiotherapist will give you exercises to perform to strengthen and control your pelvic floor muscles. If you are having trouble even with the exercises, manual treatments of those pelvic floor muscles may also be an option. Your physiotherapist will also help give you advice to use in your daily life. This can include ideas on how to work out and exercise to improve and avoid incontinence, and even advice on managing your urinary and bowel movements. Biofeedback is also a physiotherapy option.

The idea is not only to physically strengthen the muscles but also give you mental strategies and routines that will further help with your urinary incontinence. Through physiotherapy, you can potentially gain so much control over those pelvic floor muscles that you do not even need incontinence pads or underwear.

With these treatment and management options in mind, you can better deal with your urinary incontinence issues and take back control over your life. Contact a clinic like Proactive Pelvic Health Centre for more information on dealing with urinary incontinence.
